Choosing the right Trampoline
Choosing the right trampoline
There are many different trampolines on the market today and outwardly they all appear very similar. But there are various factors that influence the performance and durability of the trampoline.
Frame thickness
This ranges from 1.5m on a budget trampoline up to 2.00mm on top end trampolines such as the TP Sovereign Series and Super Tramp Bouncer range. The thicker the frame, the stronger the trampoline, the more weight it will take.
Frame Material
The frame must be made from a galvanised steel or it will not be suitable for year round use. All of the trampolines that we sell are made of galvanised steel
Frame Pads - Thickness
The frame pads are designed to protect the user should they fall on to the frame or springs and as such are an important safety feature. Look for pads that are a minimum 25mm thick and are that are wide enough to fully cover the springs, circa 250mm
Frame Pads - Material
The pads take a lot of wear and tear from both the trampoline user and the weather. Ideally the pads will be covered in a minimum 12 oz PVC material. Inferior pads tend to rot and fall apart.
Springs - Length and number
80 % of trampolines use a 7" spring. Though there is nothing wrong with a 7" spring, a superior 8.5 " spring gives a far better bounce. Some manufactures economise on the number of springs that they use .Look for a minimum 64 springs on a 10 ft trampoline, 72 on a 12ft and 88 on a 14 ft
Warranty
Look for at least 3 years on the frame, pads and jump bed.
Which size?
The bigger the trampoline, the greater the bounce area and therefore the safer and more fun it is to use. Also bear in mind that the bigger the trampoline, the greater the weight limit. Though it may be tempting to choose a small trampoline,, saving cost and space in your garden, don't forget that the whole family will get hours of fun from a trampoline, so you'll get good value for money. Also bear in mind that children grow very quickly !
Do I need a safety enclosure?
The first choice for most people is whether they want a trampoline with out without an enclosure. Safety enclosures (also know as bounce surrounds or safety cages) are designed to stop the user falling off the trampoline should they bounce incorrectly on it. We highly recommend use of an enclosure as most trampolines stand 90 cm off the ground and should the user bounce off the trampoline, they are likely to be falling to the ground from a height of about 1.4m, enough to cause serious injury.
For those that do want a safety net, select the ' Package Deal' option that we offer as this is the cheapest and easiest way to buy a trampoline with enclosure. Please note that in most of the Package Deals that we offer a ladder is included, but on Health and Safety grounds, it is not included on the TP 8 and 10 ft trampolines. Likewise, the Super Tramp Bouncer range has an integral ladder, so we do not supply a separate ladder. Super Tramp's rectangular trampolines are not available with an enclosure
We offer a Trampoline and Enclosure Package deal on all of our ranges, you'll find full details with each trampoline.
The Jump Pod Range
Jump Pod trampolines are sold as a 'One Stop' package, each trampoline coming with an enclosure, ladder, cover and shoe holder. No accessories, other than an anchor down kit (see below) need to be purchased with a Jump Pod trampoline. Simply select the size of Jump Pod that you need and add an anchor kit if required.
As with the rest as our Trampoline ranges, the Jump Pods come in two ranges. Choose between the entry level "Classic" range and the upgraded "Deluxe" range (thicker padding, longer springs and tougher components).
Do I need an Anchor Down Kit?
Anchor Kits are designed to stop a trampoline blowing away in high winds. They are not required for every day usage. If your garden is exposed or you live in a windy area we recommend use of an Anchor Kit. They are available for all trampolines and details are found with every range.
Protective Covers
Each of the trampolines that we sell is available with an optional protective cover, helping to prolong the appearance and life of the trampoline. Please note that they cannot be used with at the same time as an enclosure.
Ladders
As detailed above, these are available for most of the trampolines that we sell. If the ladder option does not appear listed under the accessories, it means that it is not available for that range. If you are buying a Package Deal, you do not need to buy a separate ladder.
